We wanted to let you know that we have made some changes to Youth Night that will focus on one of our top priorities at the YMCA, keeping our youth safe and happy!
Starting with this upcoming Youth Night on April 8, we are limiting spaces to the first 80 participants. Pre-registration will be required and is available online here.
We will not be selling any tickets day off and/or at the start of the event. This will allow proper supervision of all youth in the facility and ensure that everyone is having an enjoyable experience. If we should consistently sell out, we will re-visit and potentially open up more spaces.
All Youth Night participants are required to wear a disposable colored wristband. This will help us to identify youth that are part of the event and make sure that they are in the age appropriate areas of the YMCA.
It’s important to us at the YMCA that all youth who are in attendance are respectful to staff, their peers and all our members using the facility. In the instance that we cannot re-direct negative behavior including, but not limited to, disrespectful tones & disobedience, a staff member will call you and ask that your child be picked up from the program early. Any instances of bullying, threats or physical altercations will result in immediate dismissal from the event and suspension from future Youth Nights & the Wallingford Family YMCA.
When the event ends and it is time for pick up, we are now requiring that parents come in to get their child. We want to make sure that all children are going home safely with a parent or guardian. We recognize that some children live close and may walk to & from Youth Night. For their safety, participants are not allowed to leave the building unless we have your verbal permission. During the night, if your child would like to leave early (and walk home) from Youth Night, we will reach out to you with a call to confirm from our Welcome Center.
It’s our hope that with these changes to the program, we can continue to provide an exciting, fun and safe space for our youth to come and hang out with their friends.
