Official League Rules

  • Teams will be required to have at least 4 players, 6 at most
  • One team captain designated, who is responsible for passing on information to rest of the team
  • All players are NOT required to be from Wallingford
  • Valid ID must be present upon registration
  • For high school players, a school ID must be present upon registration
  • 2 and 3-point field goals, with a BONUS 4-pt line beyond the 3-pt arc
  • No “make it take it”, possession changes after any made basket
  • Ball must be cleared beyond 3-pt line after any change of possession (missed shot, steal, etc.)
  • All games played with a 20-minute running clock, or first team to score 30 points will be declared the winner (running clock until final 2:00 minutes of game)
  • 1-pt free throws will be awarded to any player fouled in the act of shooting, with the amount depending on where they were fouled from (2, 3, or 4 shots)
  • Only the shooter will be at the free throw line, all other teammates and opponents will remain behind the 3-pt line while free throws are taken
    • This is because possession will be changed no matter if the free throws are made or missed, there will be no rebounding opportunities after a miss
  • Normal basketball fouls will be called by certified referees (hand-checking, shooting fouls, charges and blocks, etc.)
  • Players have 5 fouls before being disqualified for the rest of the game
  • 8 team fouls will put the other team in the “bonus”, where they will shoot free throws after any foul (shooting or on the floor)
  • Overtime will start if the score is tied after 20 minutes and neither team has reached 30 points
  • Overtime will follow a “shootout” style of play
  • Each team will select one person to shoot 5 free throws for them
  • Whichever team makes more free throws will be declared the winner
    • If the same number of free throws are made by each team, it will become “sudden death” and the first team to miss a free throw loses
  • A tie will be declared only if time starts interfering with the start time of the following game
  • One 1-minute timeout will be granted to each team for each game
  • If a team calls for a timeout after already using one, a technical foul will be called rewarding the opposing team with one free throw and possession of the ball
  • Teams will have roughly 5 minutes to warm up prior to the start of their games
  • It is urgent that teams quickly switch courts or leave the court to give sufficient time for each game
  • Starting possession will be decided by a coin flip
  • The ball must be checked and then passed to a teammate to start play at all points during the game
  • Officially certified referee for every game
  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SCOREKEEPING. Email Jayden Collingham if you are interested in volunteering.
