Introduction to Rugby

Beginning in January, Wallingford YMCA is offering Indoor Flag Rugby in partnership with Midstate Rugby Club, a youth rugby organization serving Wallingford, Meriden, Middletown, Cheshire, Bethany, Southington and Prospect.

Flag Rugby is a non-contact sport similar to flag football. It’s perfect for kids of all sizes and abilities. The program is open to boys & girls in grades 1 through 12. Flag Rugby promotes excellent skill development, teamwork, health, and fitness. The emphasis is on learning the game, rules, skills, teamwork and having fun! No experience needed! Classes will be divided based on age.

Sessions run from Sunday, January 8 to Sunday, March 5. Class limit is 25. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and rugby ball.

Sunday | 10:00-11:00AM | Grades 9-12
Sunday | 11:00AM-12:00PM | Grades 5-8
Sunday | 12:00-1:00PM | Grades 1-4

Facility Update

On Tuesday, February 28, the Wallingford Family YMCA, including the Learning Communities at Choate & Masonicare will OPEN at 9:00AM.

Storm Club will open at 7:00AM and drop off will be at the KinderHouse at 16 Wallace Street.

As a reminder, all classes & programs are CANCELLED until 12:00PM today. A decision will be made by 10:00AM for afternoon classes & programs.
